Newcastle winger Harvey Barnes is set to be called up to Thomas Tuchel's England squad to replace the injured Eberechi Eze.
Eze missed Arsenal's squad for Sunday's 2-0 Carabao Cup final loss to Manchester City due to a lower leg injury.
Barnes has previously been called up once, in October 2020, when he earned his only England cap in a friendly against Wales.
Scotland have attempted to persuade Barnes to switch his international allegiance and represent Steve Clarke's team at this summer's World Cup, as the 28-year-old qualifies through his grandparents.
However, Barnes declined Scotland's approach and is now expected to be included in Tuchel's squad for friendlies against Uruguay and Japan, where several fringe players will have the opportunity to compete for a regular spot.
The Three Lions will face Uruguay on 27 March and Japan on 31 March, with both matches taking place at Wembley Stadium.
This season, Barnes has scored 14 goals in all competitions for Newcastle.
Meanwhile, Bayer Leverkusen have confirmed that defender Jarell Quansah is ruled out of England's friendlies due to a thigh injury.
