Fuquay-Varina police car hits 14-year-old in intersection

FUQUAY-VARINA, N.C. (WTVD) -- A 14-year-old is recovering after being hit by a police car in Fuquay-Varina.

Around 5:27 p.m. Monday, officers with the police department responded to a crash at the intersection of Woodrow Street and Church Street.

The incident involved a patrol car and a 14-year-old walking across the street.

The teenager was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

As standard procedure, Fuquay-Varina police requested the North Carolina State Highway Patrol to investigate the circumstances of the collision.
