LODI, Calif. â Two people died after a vehicle was struck by a train in San Joaquin County, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported.
The collision occurred Saturday around 7:14 p.m. near 1830 Armstrong Road, close to Lodi.
According to CHP, a pickup truck drove onto the railroad tracks despite the guardrails being down and an oncoming train approaching. The reason why the vehicle entered the tracks is currently unknown. After the train struck the vehicle, it caught fire.
The driver, a 29-year-old man, and a 37-year-old passenger died at the scene.
